Race Report - Borneo International Marathon 2013


Lepas segala drama on this game last few month, finally ianya berjalan seperti yang dirancang. This issue not only cause organizer pening kepala, runners pon lagi pening kepala due to some logistic issue. Plan awal aku memang dah malas nak turun sebab tiket flight agak mahal. So dekat2 nak Gawai tu AA bukak plak harga promo, so game ni xboleh dilepaskan semudah itu. Kne plak aku dgr new route. Here we are. 

Pre-Game
Aku and Suzie plan to do some LSD je for this game. Mcm biasa, datang sbb nak enjoy the food, enjoy the ambiance dan yang paling penting untuk amek mood for our next backtoback in September. Kami xletakkan high expectation sebab mileage kami mmg teramatlah kurang. 1st sebab Ramdhan dan Syawal yang agak membataskan pergerakan kami. 2nd sebab kami teramat busy dengan hal kerja masing2. So as a weekenders, we always try to act as weekenders. Sedar diri okay.
Carbo loaded with Sting and friends
Kami amek 1st flight pagi tu. Kami meet up dengan Sting senior aku kat VI dlu kat LCCT. Dia lari 10KM and his 1st try in BIM. We tag a long dari airport sampai la ke lunch. Senang nak uruskan logistic. Cab kat KK kan amat mahal so, jimat skit. Kmi sampai Suria tuk amek bip agak awal. Xda orang lagi pagi tu. So lepas amek bip, kami layan lunch kat jetty. Dapat la borak lama skit ngan Sting. Berkongsi kisah dan rasa. 

By 12pm kami bergerak ke 1Borneo, chek-in and tido. Serius letih sbb sebelum subuh dah ada dekat LCCT. Kami lelap sampai jam 4pm. Bangun, reload and shopping dekat 1Borneo. Last year aku mai sorang, mmg aku akan layan tdo sampai malam punya. But this time mai ngan Suzi so kami amek masa pusing2 1Borneo. Kata bercuti, so bercuti la betul2. 
Tahun depan make sure buat FM ok..
At 7pm kami sambung lagi tdo and only wake up at 12am. Siap2 and ready to go.

At 2am, bus yang disediakan organizer dah tunggu dkt depan tune hotel. Ada dalam 5 orang runner in FM. Almost smua FMV. So agak hangat la depa berbual on strategy depa. Kami duk dengar je and just ask them to enjoy the game an not to think to much about the distance. Sampai kat stadium, mcm tahun sudah, xberapa ramai yang buat FM. Kami did a simple warm up and  xamek pot sgt pasal runners2 lain. At 3am tajam kami dilepaskan.  

Plan kami nak habiskan game ni dengan seminimum issue yang boleh dan kalau boleh in cut off time. Simple. No fancy or harapan setinggi langit. 

0KM - 10KM
1st 5KM xda banyak issue we did start with average 7minute/KM. Actually kami xbawak hydration beg kali ni sebab nak lari leasure je. So kami bawak botol air je kat tangan. So masa start air dalam botol agak penuh dan kami berkira2 nak buang air tu separuh but we decide to do it after next water station (WS). Kami espect ada ws setiap 3KM rupanya xda. Up to 5KM baru ada. So is a wise decision untuk tidak membuang air at starting line.

We did enjoy the route. 1st 10KM ni berbukit skit and xmasuk bandar macam tahun sudah. So kami lalu tepi je. Kami xface banyak issue all the way. For 1st 10KM ni dia loop, so kami jumpa balik Stadium Likas and keluar balik kemain road untuk ke UMS. Refueling plan kami is to take a gel at any 45minutes - 60 minutes time. 

11KM - 20KM
Route ni agak lurus dan mencabar sikit sebab lebih banyak bukit dan bukit. Kat sini pon kami xbyk face issue. We just enjoy with the consistence pace 7-8minutes/KM. Masa ni Suzi dah mula menunjukkan tanda2 bonk. Actually Suzi face a lot of issue with her training. She just manage to do minimum in LSD and celup2 in normal run. Just recently dia ada masa untuk turun berlari itu pon tgh2 hari dia berlari dekat stadium. So aku banyak push dia buat speedwork. Anyway, aku teramat yakin dengan endurance level dia but not in speed. So aku aspect dia akan face byk issue dalam game kali ni. 
Contingent from Tune Hotel
At this point we still maintain dengan target pace. Refuel dan bertenang. Aku keep bercakap dan terus merapu supaya dia xboring. At this point aku pasang lagu kuat skit supaya aku sendiri xboring. Route ni agak gelap dan membosankan sebab lurus je. Masa masuk UMS aku tgk Suzi dah start slow down. So aku ikut mood dia. We just walk for uphill and run a bit fast downhill and slow pace dkt jalan lurus. 

21KM - 30KM
At this point Suzi still maintain dengan mood and pace dia. So aku ikut je. Aku advise dia refuel setiap 30 minit supaya dia boleh keep moving. Enjin kne isi else xda tenaga nak bergerak. We did meet a lot of friends kat UMS ni. Masa ni cuaca dah cerah. Masa kat bukit nak turn back keluar ke main road, dari jauh dengar orang panggil kami, "Pakcik.. Makcik.. Nak pi pasar beli sayur ke?".. lepas tu pecah orang gelak ramai2.. rupanya Abg Fuad buat lawak. Mungkin sebab tgk kami layan berjalan byk sangat kali ni kot. 
Finally we did it again..
 Then we decide to keep moving with slower pace which is 8-9minutes/KM. Masa we keep moving walk and run all the way sampai la ke U turn seblum balik ke Stadium. We meet a lot of friends and we keep encourage each other. Suzi start complain sakit pinggang kat sini. So masa dia pi toilet aku suh dia cek urine dia. So far xda dehydrate. Aku yakin ni disebabkan gel. Selalu dia training xamek gel. So game ni pagi2 lagi dah isi gel so angin dalam perut. Mmg xselesa. 

31KM - 42KM
At this point Suzi dah xleh nak berckp byk sgt. Dia lbh byk diam. We keep run and walk all the way. Aku guna method kejar marking supaya xmanja sgt layan blues berjalan. Menagis few times and i know her mental dah bersepai dkt 1Borneo. So mcm biasa, aku peluk and tenangkan dia. Keep encourage her to move. 
Senyum paksa.. lol
Actually aku melawak ngan dia, klu nak DNF, dia boleh balik Tune hotel which kami lalu masa nak balik ke stadium or boleh amek bus ke stadium. Dia buat muka xda reaksi, so i know he head is not there. Emosi dah mengawal diri. So aku keep ask her to refuel more frequent. This will make he move. 1KM seblum sampai finishing Suzi mmg xleh nak lari dah. Dia ckp pinggang dia sakit. Kaki dia sakit. Bahu dia sakit. We keep walking.

So aku ckp, all this paint come from our head. Kerat jari aku ckp bila dia sampai finishing, amek medal, amek finisher T semua sakit tu hilang tah kemana. So we reach the finishing line and yeah, all those pain is gone. We reach in 6hours 25 minutes. Actually this is her PB. 

Post Game
We dont face much issue lepas game. We did impliment recovery activities sebaik habis the game. So up to today xda sakit2, xda kepenatan melampau, xda mental injury etc. Anyway, there is few good things happen in this games aku nak share.
Muka2 sedap lepas kne sabun...
1. This is my 1st time aku xamek gel. Not event one. Aku tukar kepada honey stick. Aku amek tiap 45minute/stick. Effect dia immediate, lebih fokus, lebih tenaga dan tahan lama. Lebih murah dari gel dan howwwwliooooo.
2. 1st time aku amek kismis at every 10KM. Aku selalu face kelaparan melampau so this time it really work to sustain me for next 10KM. 
3. My 1st time jugak aku pakai minimalist on road in FM. 
4. 1st time xda bengkak2 dan melecet in road race. 

So, 1 down. 4 more to go.

tahniah suzie dan arman... arman, rjm nnti bawak rotan. hehe.. aku ade bukak 'ws' dekat route tu. berhenti la kat gerai laksa buyung. ade ais kacang di sana. hahaha

Congratulations Suzie & Arman! My oh my back to back jugak, RJM pulak weekend ni ya. I noticed Arman's shoes in FB (walaupun tak sure brand apa hehe). Kismis ya...honeystick magnetic aura tu ke?

Milli.. I pakai Merrel.. ada cover kat blog ni last month.. madu ni i beli yg biasa je.. xda aura or magnet.. beli dkt kedai madu RnR awan besar menghala ke shah alam.. RM70 satu pek.. ada 100 batang.. 1 batang boleh cover about 45 minit... murah.. bersih.. selamat dan mudah dibawa.. effect dia immediate..
